That’s according to the latest monthly employment report that the New York State Department of Labor issued on Thursday.
The job gains for the Syracuse region in that 12-month period represent an increase of 0.8 percent.
The Utica–Rome metro area added 1,100 jobs in the past year, up 0.9 percent.
The Watertown–Fort Drum region gained 200 jobs in the same period, an increase of 0.5 percent.
The Ithaca area added 100 jobs, up 0.2 percent between August 2016 and this past August.
The Binghamton region gained 1,000 jobs, an increase of 1 percent in the last 12 months.
New York state as a whole gained more than 147,000 jobs, an increase of 1.6 percent, in the last year. The state economy gained more than 2,000 jobs between July and August of this year, the labor department said.
