Republic Parking begins management of parking facilities at Hancock Airport

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Republic Parking System on Tuesday assumed management of the parking facilities at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

It will manage all phases of the airport parking operation, including snow removal.

Chattanooga, Tennessee–based Republic Parking already works with the City of Syracuse in its downtown parking operations.

The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) earlier this year awarded Republic Parking a five-year contract to provide parking services at the airport, the organization said in a news release issued Nov. 24.

Both can “later” customize the contract to provide additional parking-related services, such as shuttle-bus services and valet parking.

Republic will employ about 30 employees at Hancock, the SRAA said.

As part of its contract obligations, Republic will install a new parking and access-control system at the airport, which will provide “many additional features for travelers,” according to the SRAA.

They will include a pay-by-phone option; an “enhanced,” automated toll-reading system; and a customer-loyalty program.

Republic will implement the new features over the first six months of 2016, SRAA said.

Founded in 1966, Republic Parking System serves 70 U.S. airports in parking and ground-transportation services.

Syracuse Hancock International Airport says it serves more than 1 milion passengers annually with six airline carriers, 17 non-stop destinations, and more than 60 daily flights.
