Rescue Mission opens Baldwinsville bottle and can redemption center

BALDWINSVILLE — The Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse on Friday opened a bottle and can redemption center in Baldwinsville, the organization’s 12th location of what it calls “Mission Returns.”

All proceeds from Mission Returns benefit the Rescue Mission’s programs and services offered to people in need throughout the community, the organization said in a news release.

The new Mission Returns location is at 7 Salina St. in the village of Baldwinsville, in a building that was formerly home to a Byrne Dairy store. Byrne Dairy relocated its store to 83 West Genesee St., on the other side of the village.

Besides the new center in Baldwinsville, the Rescue Mission operates eight Mission Returns locations in Syracuse, along with Canastota, Chittenango, and Rome, according to the organization’s website.

The Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse is a nonprofit that works to end hunger and homelessness in Syracuse, Auburn, Binghamton, and Ithaca, its website says.
