Rochester firm to acquire Dellas Graphics

SYRACUSE  —  An employee-owned commercial printer based in Rochester is set to acquire the Syracuse printing company Dellas Graphics.

Canfield & Tack Commercial Printing & Fulfillment, which is headquartered at 925 Exchange St. in Rochester, will acquire Dellas Graphics of 835 Canal St. in Syracuse. Dellas will operate as a division of Canfield & Tack, but the companies did not release financial terms of the transaction.

“This is an exciting opportunity for both companies,” Canfield & Tack Chairman Ray Brown said in a news release. “More than a third of our business already comes from outside Rochester, including a significant amount in New York City and the Tri-State area [of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut], so the acquisition will expand our reach and bring sales and support services closer to our customers.

“It underscores our mutual commitment to providing our customers with exceptional service and innovative solutions that are at the cutting edge of commercial printing and print management.”

The acquisition will swell Canfield & Tack’s employment rolls to over 100 people and push its annual sales to nearly $20 million. Dellas Graphics has over 30 employees and almost $5 million in annual sales, while Canfield & Tack employs 75 people and generates more than $14 million in revenue every year.

“I liked the fact that they are an employee-owned company,” said Thomas Dellas, Dellas Graphics owner and president, who will become Canfield & Tack’s Central New York regional director of business development and acquisitions. “We have gained the capabilities that allow us to go after a larger array of work. I also liked the quality of their work, the management group, and their philosophy.

“They bring procedural efficiency and the ability to implement cost savings to the table, which will benefit all our customers.”

After the acquisition, Canfield & Tack’s clients will include Constellation Brands (NYSE: STZ), the University of Rochester, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, ITT Corp. (NYSE: ITT), Paychex, Inc. (NASDAQ: PAYX), Syracuse University, and the American Cancer Society. In addition to its operations in Rochester and a location it will maintain in Syracuse, the company has sales offices in New York City and Washington, D.C.
