Rome Health names Burns VP and chief quality officer

Scott Burns

ROME, N.Y. — Rome Health announced it has appointed Scott Burns as VP and chief quality officer, tasked with leading and supporting the system’s quality management infrastructure to yield the best quality, safety, and patient experience.

In addition to providing leadership for quality management, Burns will also offer administrative oversight for risk management, compliance, infection prevention, employee health and wellbeing, population health, and pharmacy.

“Scott has served as the interim chief quality officer for the last six months and has clearly demonstrated his leadership in bringing stakeholders together to develop systems and processes that support high reliability organizations,” Dr. Cristian Andrade, Rome Health’s chief medical officer, said in a news release.

Burns, a 2000 graduate of Northeastern University, joined Rome Health as staff pharmacist in 2008. He previously worked in retail pharmacy for eight years. Burns was promoted to pharmacy director in 2010.

“At Rome Health, our goal is to keep patients at the forefront of everything that we do as we continuously refine our processes to enhance patient care,” Burns said. “When we have a structure where everyone knows what we measure and why we measure it, departments have the tools to work together to achieve the best patient outcomes.”

Rome Health, an affiliate of St. Joseph’s Health, offers primary and specialty care services as well as long-term care options.
