Rome Memorial Hospital Community Recovery Center awarded three-year operating certification from state

ROME, N.Y. — The Community Recovery Center of Rome Memorial Hospital has recently been awarded a three-year certification by the state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) for its chemical-dependence outpatient services.

“This 3-year certification is the longest that the state issues,” Ashlee Thompson, program director, said in a Rome Memorial Hospital news release. “The term of the certification is based upon the scores received during an OASAS compliance review. Our top scores show our commitment to providing our community with the best quality care in a safe, healing environment.”

The Community Recovery Center provides treatment for adults and adolescents who are chemically dependent on alcohol, prescription medications, and illegal drugs.

Thompson explained that some of the areas reviewed in the certification process included patient-charting procedures, treatment plans, classes and groups provided, discharging procedures, and the number and quality of caregivers.

“At the Community Recovery Center, 100 percent of our caregivers are qualified health professionals, as specified by the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Service,” Thompson said.

OASAS defines a qualified health professional as: “one who is in good standing with the appropriate licensing or certifying authority, as applicable, with a minimum of one year of experience in the treatment of alcoholism or substance abuse and/or chemical dependence, or satisfactory completion of a training program in the treatment of alcoholism or substance abuse and/or chemical dependence.”

The Community Recovery Center is located at 264 W. Dominick St. in Rome.
