VERONA — Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation announced that its annual gala at the Turning Stone Resort Casino on Nov. 11 attracted more than 425 attendees and raised more than $93,000 to support Rome Memorial Hospital.

Presenting sponsor, Nunn’s Home Medical Equipment, was joined by 63 additional corporate supporters of the event.

Attendees celebrated the mission of Rome Memorial Hospital while enjoying live entertainment, an open bar, and a wide variety of food prepared by Turning Stone Resort. The annual gala, as part of its fundraising efforts, features a silent auction with a variety of items including unique auction items donated by area businesses and those donated and assembled by the employees of the hospital.

The gala recognized Dr. Ajay Goel as the 2017 Physician of the Year for his commitment to Rome Memorial Hospital and for his “exemplary delivery of comprehensive and compassionate patient care.” Going forward, the gala will recognize a physician annually.

Also at the 2017 event, RMH employees that have served in the armed forces were invited to attend the event. Those RMH veterans in attendance were asked to stand and be recognized for their service, as were all veterans in attendance, by Dr. Andrew Bushnell, Rome Memorial Hospital’s chief medical officer. The attendance of the RMH veterans and their guests was generously sponsored by Rome Memorial Hospital’s medical staff.

Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation says it provides “vital philanthropic support” to the hospital. The foundation is a separate 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit that accepts gifts on behalf of Rome Memorial Hospital and works to fund both present and future equipment and program needs.

Rome Memorial Hospital provides care to more than 100,000 residents of the community.
