Rome Research lands $6.8M Navy contract for work in Italy

NEW HARTFORD — The U.S. Navy awarded Rome Research Corp. (RRC), a subsidiary of PAR Technology Corp. (PAR), a $6.8 million contract to provide teleport commercial satellite terminal services at the global information grid (GIG) facility in Lago Patria, Italy.

RRC operates similar facilities for the Navy at Chesapeake, Va. and for the Army in Landstuhl, Germany, and Camp Roberts in California.

The GIG is the global network of information capabilities, processes, and personnel for collecting, processing, storing, disseminating, and managing information on demand for use by military commanders, policy makers, and support personnel. The grid supports the Department of Defense (DoD), national security, and related intelligence-community missions and functions. The GIG provides capabilities to operating locations that include bases, posts, camps, stations, facilities, mobile platforms, and deployed sites.
