NEW HARTFORD — The U.S. Navy awarded PAR Technology Corp. subsidiary Rome Research Corporation (RRC) a $2.4 million contract to provide telecommunications operations and maintenance services at the Global Information Grid (GIG) facility in Souda Bay on the island of Crete, Greece.
RRC operates other communications facilities for the Navy in the United States and around the world.
The GIG is the global network of information capabilities, processes, and personnel for collecting, processing, storing, disseminating, and managing information on demand for use by military commanders, policy makers, and support personnel. The GIG supports the Department of Defense, national security, and related intelligence-community missions and functions.
“The company’s expertise and knowledge in operating telecommunications systems, as well as its cost-effective approach, were key factors in this award decision,” Steve Lynch, president of PAR’s government operations, said in a release.
RRC (www.romeresearch.com), headquartered in Rome, is a telecommunications and information-technology services company that provides on-site support to the Department of Defense and other federal agencies.
