Besides its headquarters in Rome, Cathedral also operates offices in Lincoln, R.I. and Hamden, Conn., according to its news release.
Cathedral Corp. and AXIS Data Solutions have been competitors in industries “they both understand,” Marianne Gaige, president and CEO of Cathedral, said in the release.
“This purchase makes good sense for Cathedral Corporation,” said Gaige. “We expand our geographic reach and consolidate our presence in key financial and government markets. Our customers, and their members and customers, are beneficiaries, too.”
Moving forward, AXIS Data Solutions Inc. will function with a “high degree of autonomy” as a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathedral.
All leadership and staff are remaining in their current positions. AXIS leadership is also now part of Cathedral’s senior-management team, the Rome company said.
AXIS Data Solutions, Inc. will remain based in Florida, where Cathedral has taken a long-term lease of AXIS’s existing Orlando facility.
AXIS will also serve as the Southeastern U.S. data processing and print-production center for Cathedral’s customers in the religious, fundraising, and higher-education markets.
Cathedral and AXIS customers can look for “continued excellence” in production quality, customer service, and expanded capabilities in data management and security and full-color, digital-print products, Cathedral said.
Cathedral’s acquisition of the Florida firm is a “welcome development in a longtime relationship of mutual respect between our companies,” David Salazar, president of AXIS Data Solutions, said in the release.
“As part of Cathedral Corporation AXIS joins an industry leader — fiscally sound, firmly positioned in the markets we serve, and with the leadership and potential to grow,” said Salazar.
