SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York has hired Emily Whalen, of Syracuse, as volunteer manager.
She is responsible for helping manage the organization’s growing volunteer program, including overseeing current volunteers and recruiting new volunteers to support ongoing House programs and annual fundraising events. Whalen will also provide additional support on guest services, events, and administrative duties.
Prior to joining Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York, she gained experience as marketing director at Empire Brewing Co. and as catering manager at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the State University of New York at Cortland.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York operates the CNY Ronald McDonald House 24 hours a day, year-round for families whose children are hospitalized with serious illnesses or injuries. For $25 a night per family, the House provides a room and bed, a meal, and support.
