DeWITT, N.Y. — Saab Inc. in DeWitt was recently awarded a nearly $173.2 million contract from the U.S. Navy for the procurement of production, test, and delivery of the MK-39 Mod 3 Expandable Mobile Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Target (or EMATT) and engineering services.
The firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, and cost-reimbursement provisions include options that if exercised, will have production continuing through September 2032, according to a Sept. 30 contract announcement from the U.S. Department of Defense.
Work will be performed in Saab’s facilities in DeWitt. The aerospace company has a plant at 5717 Enterprise Pkwy in DeWitt and another facility at 85 Collamer Crossing Pkwy in DeWitt.
Fiscal 2022 weapons procurement (Navy) funds totaling almost $5.8 million will be obligated at time of award on the first article, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year, per the contract announcement. This contract was competitively procured on the System for Award Management website, with three offers received. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division in Newport, Rhode Island is the contracting authority.
