Salvation Army’s Linda Wright accepts statewide position within organization

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Linda Wright, executive director of professional and community services for the Salvation Army of Onondaga County, has accepted a new statewide position in the organization.

The nonprofit has named Wright as its Empire State divisional director of social services, Major Ronald Foreman, divisional commander of the Empire State division, said in a news release issued Monday.

The Empire State division covers 48 counties in upstate New York.

“This year marks Linda’s 40th anniversary with the Salvation Army and we are eager to share Linda’s knowledge and expertise with other Salvation Army Community Center’s throughout our division. She’s a dedicated social worker who will enrich Salvation Army programs and services that help the impoverished find direction and empowerment for themselves and their families,” Foreman said.

Wright began her career with the Salvation Army when she joined a new group home for teenage girls in foster care as a social worker after graduating from college.

As Wright “advanced her career,” the Salvation Army’s advisory board appointed Wright to her current role in 2001.

“We know there are opportunities to better connect, bridge, and deliver life-changing programs across our division, along with building strategic alliances with other service providers and organizations,” Wright noted in the news release.

Wright graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1975 before earning a master’s degree in social work from Syracuse University in 1978, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She is also a graduate of the Leadership Greater Syracuse civic training program.
