SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse district office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced it is recruiting candidates for the 2015 Emerging Leaders class, which will begin in April.

Syracuse is among 48 communities nationwide participating in the executive-level training series.

The seven-month, executive-entrepreneurship education series, which the SBA describes as “intensive,” includes about 100 hours of classroom time per participant.

It also provides small-business owners the chance to work with experienced mentors, attend workshops, and develop connections with their peers, city leaders, and financial communities.

Interested small-business owners can contact Dan Rickman at (315) 471-9393 ext. 250 or email: daniel.rickman@sba.gov.

Eligibility criteria and application information are available at www.sba.gov/emergingleaders.

The Emerging Leaders Program is a resource that can open “lucrative doors” for America’s small businesses, Maria Contreras-Sweet, SBA administrator, contended in the news release.

“The addition of over 20 new cities in 2015 will help serve even more entrepreneurs. Graduates of the initiative have measurably increased their revenue, and helped create jobs and drive economic growth in their local communities,” said Contreras-Sweet.

The new locations include Birmingham, Ala., Charlotte, N.C., Salt Lake City, Utah, Puerto Rico, and Providence, R.I., the SBA said.
