SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Bernard J. Paprocki — director of the Syracuse-Upstate New York district of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) — plans to retire later this month.
Paprocki will close out a nearly 37-year career in federal service when he retires on July 29, the SBA said in its Monday announcement.
He was appointed as the Syracuse district director in 1991, overseeing lending, contracting, and counseling programs in the 34 counties of upstate New York served by the district office.
Paprocki joined the agency in 1987 and served as special assistant to the agency’s deputy administrator, where he worked as liaison to the U.S. House and Senate small business committee.
Prior to entering public service, Paprocki worked for the Western Regional Off Track Betting Corporation where, as regional manager, he was responsible for the company’s 24 branch operations in a 17-county area of Western New York.
Paprocki is a native of Salamanca in Cattaraugus County in Western New York.
