SBH to showcase remodeled space on Hickory Street in Syracuse

SYRACUSE  —  Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare (SBH) has scheduled an open house to reveal a new alumni center and supportive-living apartments.

The nonprofit organization, which provides assistance for alcohol and drug addiction, wants to showcase renovations that constructed the apartments and Turning Point Alumni Center at 714-720 Hickory St. in Syracuse. Its open house is set to run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

“This remodeled, repurposed space will serve those in recovery for years to come,” SBH President and CEO Jeremy Klemanski said in a news release. “The supportive-living apartments will increase the availability of a highly needed level of care that regularly has as many as 40 people on a waiting list. Our new Turning Point Alumni Center will support people in a different way — offering relevant programming and camaraderie that focuses on living a life of recovery.”

The Hickory Street space opens after SBH moved into a new outpatient mental health and substance-use disorders clinic last year. It opened that clinic at the Learbury Centre at 401 N. Salina St. in September.

SBH employs more than 220 workers. It served over 5,800 people last year.
