AUBURN, N.Y. — The Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn says the ongoing construction project is making progress, but due to weather and procurement issues, the center doesn’t expect crews to complete the project until mid-March.

The organization refers to the mid-March timeframe as a “substantial completion date,” in its Friday email update.

Crews are working on the center’s entrance addition. It also involves connecting walkways to the Cayuga Museum of History & Art next door, which Schweinfurth says have been completed.

The center’s parking lot remains unavailable to the public, but visitors can park on the street in front of the art center or in a new parking lot behind the Cayuga Museum of History & Art. People who park in that lot can reach the Schweinfurth’s front door by following the new sidewalks between the two institutions, according to the email update.

“We thank you for your patience with the parking challenges and construction noise while we make these improvements,” said Donna Lamb, executive director of the Schweinfurth Art Center, said. “It will be worth it in the end!”

Schweinfurth Art Center also noted that the delays haven’t stopped the art center’s plans for upcoming programs.
