CICERO, N.Y. — Sidney Federal Credit Union (sfcu) announced it has chosen 8062 Brewerton Road in Cicero as the location of its planned flagship Syracuse–area branch.

It’s located in front of the Cicero Walmart Supercenter and just across the street from Target.

The new branch will feature the same concierge-style concept that sfcu established in its Amsterdam location that opened last fall. That branch features teller pods and interactive teller machines (iTMs) with integrated video capabilities that allow members to connect virtually with a sfcu representative during transactions.

“We established our new branch model and identity with our Amsterdam location,” sfcu CEO Jim Reynolds said in a press release. “We now have an opportunity in the Syracuse market that will allow us to share our principles of banking easier with a much larger population.”

The credit union also plans for the Cicero branch serve as a financial wellness center, offering financial education services.

Earlier this year, sfcu expanded its field of membership to include Onondaga, Cortland, Essex, and Hamilton counties. The credit union already served Chenango, Delaware, Fulton, Madison, Montgomery, Otsego, and Schoharie counties and portions of Broome, Oneida, and Herkimer counties.

The credit union did not announce a timeline for the branch opening. Edward Kiesa of CBRE in Syracuse brokered the deal.

Work is also underway to open an sfcu drive thru, with ITMs, in Oneida.

Sidney Federal Credit Union currently has more than 64,000 members with total assets exceeding $775 million. Headquartered in Sidney, sfcu is a full-service financial institution open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends schools in the counties it serves. The credit union employs about 190 people, a figure that continues to grow with new locations. It operates 10 branch locations in Sidney, Oneonta (2), Green, Norwich, Walton, Delhi, Hancock, Bainbridge, and Amsterdam.
