The Salvation Army Syracuse Area Services has appointed Sidney Germinio as executive director of community services. In this role, she will be responsible for the overall management of human-service programs in Onondaga County, including the design, development, and implementation of strategic and programmatic plans across 33 diverse programs. Germinio has spent the past 17 years at the Salvation Army. As both an administrator and clinician, she is passionate and committed to community-based work and social justice. In her recent role of director of family services at the Salvation Army, Germinio has been an integral part of planning and implementing pilot programs and research projects developed to target gang violence, child abuse/neglect prevention, and increased use of kinship foster care. She began her career working with juvenile justice-involved youth and has extensive experience supporting families who interface with juvenile justice, child welfare, and behavioral-health systems. In her tenure with the Salvation Army, Germinio has consistently exemplified her dedication to the mission, meeting families where they are, and supporting them with compassion. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and AAMFT-approved supervisor in the state of New York. Germinio earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Le Moyne College and her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Syracuse University.
