Much of Central New York bucked the state’s trend of rising unemployment by posting lower jobless rates for October.
The Binghamton region saw its unemployment rate drop from 8.5 percent in September to 8.3 percent in October. That figure is up from 8 percent in October 2011.
The Syracuse area also saw a decline in the unemployment rate, dropping from 8.4 percent in September to 8.2 percent in October. That figure is up from 7.7 percent a year ago.
