LAKEWOOD — Southern Tier Brewing Company has partnered with Perry’s Ice Cream to create a new brew inspired by Perry’s Cherry Pie Ice Cream, the brewery recently announced.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Perry’s Ice Cream for the third year in a row,” Southern Tier Brand Manager Brandon Hank said in the announcement. “We began with Perry’s signature Vanilla Scoop, and, due to fan excitement, came back last year with Orange Twist. Now, we’re excited for our evolution to Cherry Pie; it perfectly matches the passion Southern Tier Brewing Company and Perry’s both have for innovation and fun.”

The result of the collaboration is Cherry Pie Imperial Ale, Southern Tier’s latest twist on dessert-inspired beers. The limited-edition ale features notes of tart cherries, vanilla, and flaky biscuits.

“The partnership with Southern Tier Brewing Company allows both brands to showcase their creativity in flavor innovation,” Perry’s Ice Cream Senior Brand Manager Nichole Buryta contended. “The Cherry Pie Imperial Ale captures the essence of Perry’s new Cherry Pie Ice Cream and is the perfect way to bring the flavor to life in a whole new format.”

Cherry Imperial Ale is available on tap at Southern Tier’s five taproom locations and was set to arrive on shelves at retailers across New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and beyond in March. Retailers include Consumer Beverage Center, Giant Eagle, Dash’s Market, Sheetz, Tops Markets, Total Wine, Walmart, 7 Eleven, Speedway, Wegmans Food Markets, and local independent retailers.

Southern Tier Brewing Company is part of the Artisanal Brewing Company family and operates taprooms in Lakewood and Buffalo, N.Y.; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Cleveland, Ohio; and Charlotte, N.C.

Headquartered in Akron, N.Y. (Erie County), Perry’s ice Cream employs more than 400 people. It says it is upstate New York’s top ice-cream brand and the 22nd largest ice-cream brand in the country. Perry’s products are sold in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Nort Carolina, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
