Southern Tier Dermatology plans move to larger location

VESTAL — After expanding late last year with a new location in Big Flats, Vestal–based Southern Tier Dermatology & Aesthetics will continue growing with a move to a larger office this summer.

The practice will begin seeing patients at its new office at 333 Hooper Road in Endwell in August. The location is triple the size of the practice’s current office at 200 Plaza Drive in Vestal. Southern Tier Dermatology will invest about $1.5 million in the acquisition, renovation, and equipping of the new facility in Endwell.

Practice owners Colleen Crandell and Curt Fenkl said in a news release that the new office will offer larger service areas to patients and feature a full laboratory with tissue processing and phlebotomy departments. The new three-story location will also feature a separate aesthetic entrance and treatment area.

The aesthetic, or medical spa, area is a combination medical office and day spa where patients can receive laser treatments, chemical peels, and other services. The second and third floors of the building will house medical and surgical dermatology exam and surgical rooms.

“Not only will our clientele experience a more comfortable space in the Endwell office, but our employees will also have access to additional advanced resources and vital diagnostic equipment,” Crandell said.

The new lab facilities will allow the practice’s technicians diagnose conditions, such as melanoma, faster, Fenkl said.

Southern Tier Dermatology & Aesthetics (www.stdermatology.com), founded by Crandell in 2006, will hire 10 new employees to help staff the larger office. The practice currently employs 20 people in Vestal and eight people in Big Flats.
