SRC, Lockheed Martin, and Le Moyne College in Syracuse have partnered to develop a new certificate in government systems management.
The program will introduce students and professionals to the legal and regulatory issues involved in doing business with the federal government. They will learn about the government procurement process, financial systems, and contracting basics.
Employees at SRC and Lockheed developed the program with Le Moyne professors. Course work includes case analysis, statute and case law readings, and seminars.
Students also complete a capstone course that includes analysis of current contract cases with industry experts, according to SRC, a nonprofit research and development company.
SRC and its for-profit manufacturing subsidiary, SRCTec, together employ more than 1,100 people at 15 locations in Colorado, Maine, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia. The firms are headquartered in Cicero and also have an office in Rome.
They work mainly on defense-related projects.
Defense contractor Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) employs about 2,200 people at a plant in Salina and 2,900 at a site in Owego.
