SRC to hire more than 80 after winning three counter-drone technology contracts

CICERO, N.Y. — SRC Inc. is seeking to fill more than 80 positions after winning three contracts focused on counter-drone technology.

More than half of those positions are in Central New York, the company said in a news release issued Thursday.

The firm is hiring for roles in systems engineering, software engineering, integration/test, field-application support, and program management.

SRC is a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Cicero that focuses on areas that include defense, environment, and intelligence.

Contract wins

The U.S. Air Force has awarded SRC Inc. a $12.7 million contract for counter-UAS system “to meet an urgent requirement to detect and defeat drones.” UAS is short for unmanned-aircraft systems, or what are also known as drones.

In addition, the U.S. Army has submitted a $10 million follow-on order for electronic-warfare “enhancements,” along with “increased” engineering and field-service support to previously delivered C-UAS systems.

Besides those contract awards, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded SRC a contract worth up to $6.5 million for the initial phase of the Mobile Force Protection (MFP) program. Under the MFP program, SRC aims to “develop and demonstrate” an advanced mobile capability for the “detection and defeat” of drones.

“Providing this critical technology that will defend against evolving threats like small drones is what we’re all about: helping to keep America and its allies safe and strong,” Paul Tremont, president and CEO of SRC, said in the release. “This work will further establish SRC as the innovative leader in CUAS technology. Our projections are to double our workforce over the next five years to continue to deliver for our customers, creating a positive economic impact in the region.”
