St. Joseph’s “restructuring” eliminates 26 positions

SYRACUSE — St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, Central New York’s fifth largest employer, has confirmed some recent staff “restructuring” that affected 26 employees.

The hospital said that “a few weeks ago” it eliminated 26 jobs, primarily administrative positions not associated with direct patient care.

St. Joseph’s moved the affected individuals “into a pool,” according to a statement from the St. Joseph’s human resources (HR) department, and invited them to apply for any of about 60 open positions throughout the hospital’s system.

“The number of individuals in this pool has already diminished significantly as most of these individuals have either accepted other positions at St. Joseph’s or opted to look for jobs outside of the organization,” the HR department said in the statement.

The hospital concluded the statement by saying it hopes “that most of the remaining individuals will find other positions over the coming weeks.”

St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center is a nonprofit, 431-bed hospital and health-care system, based in Syracuse, providing services to patients in 16 counties in Central New York.
