WATERTOWN, N.Y. — New York State Police announced they recently arrested a man from Canton for stealing more than $2,600 worth of merchandise from Hannaford stores in Watertown, Plattsburgh, and Saratoga.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, Brian D. Laprade was stopped by Hannaford loss-prevention staff when leaving the Hannaford store in Watertown with $313 worth of merchandise without paying for it, according to a State Police news release.
Laprade, age 30, was charged with 1st degree scheme to defraud, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
He is also accused of stealing boxes of flea medication, worth a total of $2,359, from the Hannaford stores in Plattsburgh and Saratoga.
Laprade was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Watertown Court on Sept. 19 at 9 a.m.
