St. Lawrence University names new VP for finance and administration

CANTON, N.Y. — St. Lawrence University has named Stephen Hietsch as the school’s next VP for finance and administration.

Hietsch will begin his duties at St. Lawrence in July, the school announced in a news release.

He is currently serving as the associate VP for budget and auxiliaries at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, a role he has held since 2012.

He has also served in various positions in higher education and in local government, including as manager for the Borough of Carlisle, the school said.

“Steve brings a wealth of experience and skills to the St. Lawrence community,” St. Lawrence University President William Fox said in the release. “He has experience and background in a liberal-arts environment and a keen understanding of our financial model. He understands the complexity of long-range and annual budget planning and development, as well as auxiliary services. Steve’s collaborative nature and time in local government will serve our community well in the coming years.”

Hietsch will replace Jan Albano, who has served as acting chief financial officer since December. Albano assumed the role after Joe Manory resigned last Nov. 30 to “resume a consulting practice,” according to a Nov. 20, 2017 president’s memo to St. Lawrence faculty and staff posted on the school’s website.
