UTICA, N.Y. — Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri has announced that Starbucks plans to open its first Utica location.
Starbucks (NYSE: SBUX), the Seattle, Washington–based coffee chain, wants to operate in a 2,200-square-foot restaurant at 71 N. Genesee St. in Utica.
The company has formally submitted its plans to the Utica Planning Board, which is scheduled to meet April 15.
With the development of the Utica Harbor progressing and the “continued revitalization” of North Genesee St. and downtown, the opening of the first Utica Starbucks is “another exciting catalyst for economic growth,” Palmieri’s office said.
