StartFast adds more expertise for 2013

SYRACUSE — The StartFast Venture Accelerator has added a second entrepreneur in residence to its team for the 2013 program.

The accelerator announced last week that Jeremy Schwimmer will serve in the role. StartFast announced its first entrepreneur in residence, Kyle Blumin, in December.

The group is looking to add one more for its 2013 program.

“Jeremy possesses unique skills and broad business experience that will serve as a significant resource to the program,” StartFast Managing Director Nasir Ali said in a news release. “He is a successful CEO as well as a trusted adviser and mentor to many entrepreneurs. His addition to the StartFast team will enable us to provide even stronger guidance and connectivity to this year’s cohort.”

Schwimmer led the successful turnaround of a metal recycling business in Central New York and has made investments in six other companies in the area. He is a member of the Seed Capital Fund of CNY.

StartFast is a private capital-backed accelerator for software, Internet, and mobile startups. Teams, chosen from a pool of applicants from around the world, receive $18,000 in seed funding and spend the summer working with mentors and coaches in Syracuse.

Its focus is on helping the young companies develop and validate a prototype product and secure enough funding for them to move forward with their work.
