State acquires land near Ithaca, creating Cayuga Shores Wildlife Management Area

The state on Monday said it has acquired 287 acres of the Bell Station property in the town of Lansing from the Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) of Ithaca. In doing so, the state on Monday also announced “permanent protection” of the property as the Cayuga Shores Wildlife Management Area. FLLT acquired the entire 480-acre parcel from New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) Corporation in 2022 and, at the time, said it planned to eventually sell it to the state.
