ITHACA, N.Y. — New York State Police in Ithaca announced Friday that a recent traffic stop led them to arrest an area man for stealing a car in Olean nearly two months earlier.
On Nov. 27, at about 9:51 p.m., State Police arrested Michael C. Dostman, age 35 of Lansing, for 3rd degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and 2nd degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor.
The arrest came about after a trooper initiated a traffic stop on North Triphammer Road in the village of Lansing after he observed a vehicle speeding on State Route 13. The officer discovered that the vehicle was stolen from a driveway in the city of Olean in early October, according to the State Police.
Dostman was arraigned virtually and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on no bail, State Police say.
