State Police arrest three people in check-cashing scheme, totaling more than $4,300

HOMER, N.Y. — New York State Police in Homer have recently arrested three people for their involvement in a fraudulent checking-cashing scheme.

Investigators in January learned that fake checks that appeared to be payroll checks from Cortland Country Club in the town of Cortlandville were being cashed around Cortland and Tompkins Counties. The total amount of cashed checks exceeded $4,300, State Police say.

On March 4, troopers arrested an unnamed 18-year-old from Cortland and charged him with the felony of possession of a forged instrument. On March 16, Lisa A. Pagliaro, age 52 of Dryden, was arrested on the same charge.
