SU announces record crowd of 35,446 set for Duke game Saturday

SYRACUSE — Syracuse University (SU) announced today that it is expecting a record crowd of 35,446 for the much-awaited Duke vs. Syracuse basketball game at the Carrier Dome Saturday evening.

The prior Dome record of 35,012 was set last Feb. 23 when longtime rival Georgetown visited for the final time as a conference mate of the Orange.

This Saturday’s game tips off at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN, featuring announcers Dick Vitale and Dan Shulman.

SU is encouraging fans to arrive early to be in their seats for the singing of the national anthem by SU alumna, and Grammy and Tony Award winning recording artist and actress Vanessa Williams.

Duke (17-4, 6-2 ACC) is ranked number 17 in the country and comes to the Dome riding a five-game winning streak. No. 2 Syracuse enters the contest undefeated (20-0, 7-0 ACC) this season and fresh off a 67-57 victory Wednesday night at Wake Forest.

The Duke game marks the first of three straight at the Dome for the Orange. Syracuse hosts Notre Dame next Monday night (Feb. 3) and welcomes Clemson on Sunday, Feb. 9
