Summit Federal Credit Union plans to relocate Cortland branch to new site in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. — The Summit Federal Credit Union has announced plans to relocate its Cortland branch to a new building set for construction in the town of Cortlandville.

The credit union currently operates at 143 Main Street in downtown Cortland. The new location is a few miles away in what the organization describes as a “popular retail area,” in a news release issued Feb. 22.

Construction of the new 2,000-square-foot branch at 877 Route 13 will begin in the coming months, with an opening planned for next winter, Dave Harnish, Summit’s VP of information technology, told BJNN in a telephone interview on Friday.

Harnish wasn’t able to share a total cost for the project. “We will be using our own resources [for financing],” he said.

The new Cortlandville branch will also offer “technological advances geared toward servicing members’ changing needs,” Summit said in its release.

Founded in 1941, the nonprofit Summit Federal Credit Union has about $800 million in total assets.

It also employs more than 230 people and has about 80,000 members in Central and Western New York.
