UTICA, N.Y. — SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) announced it has named Xinjian (Arthur) Lu new dean of the College of Business Management.

Lu assumes the role that Robert Edgell has held on an interim basis since March 2017, Steve Ference, director of university communications, tells BJNN.

Lu joins SUNY Poly after having served as interim dean of the College of Business and Economics at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB).

At CSUEB since 1999, Lu also served as associate dean, chair, and associate chair of the department of management, and professor of undergraduate and graduate courses in operations management and computer-information systems. Lu also has industry experience as a software engineer, SUNY Poly said.

The dean of the College of Business Management (CBM) helps to promote the “vision, mission, and focus” of the institution with a “commitment to advancing the merged institution with strong advocacy on campus and in the community.” The position’s duties include recruiting and retaining “high-quality” faculty.
