Surace to head Utica chapter of state CPA society

UTICA — Stephen Surace of Deerfield is the new president of the Utica chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accounts (NYSSCPA) for a one-year term that began June 1.

Surace is the CFO and vice president for Adjusters International. He joined the NYSSCPA in 2000 and is a member of its real-estate committee. He is a past co-chair of the Utica chapter’s industry committee. Surace also served on the Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession Syracuse Advisory Board.

Surace is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Bar Association’s torts and insurance-practice section.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Utica College in 1998 and his master’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica-Rome in 2006.

The Utica chapter also installed Brian Reese of Rinehard Fitzgerald DePietro & Wojnas CPAs P.C. as its president-elect; Maria Suppa of Adjusters International as its vice president; Eric Longway of D’Arcangelo & Co., LLP as its secretary; and Chris Lambe of D’Arcangelo & Co., LLP as its treasurer.

The NYSSCPA, headquartered in New York City, is a nonprofit organization representing more than 28,000 certified public accountants.
