Syracuse police said the M&T Bank branch at 424 Grant Blvd. in the city was robbed just after 9 a.m. on Friday. A male suspect entered the bank, walked up to a teller, and presented a note demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he left the bank on foot through a parking lot toward Grant Blvd., per the police.
Paul Comforti, 41, of Syracuse, entered the Fairfield, New Jersey Police Department at about 7 a.m. on Sunday morning and told officers that he had robbed the bank in Syracuse. He turned in what he had left of the proceeds from the robbery, according to a Syracuse Police news release.
The Syracuse Police Department has issued a warrant of arrest for Comforti for robbery in the third degree. He is currently being held in New Jersey awaiting extradition proceedings.
