SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse University men’s basketball program would be worth nearly $203 million on the open market if it could be sold like a professional sports team.
That’s according to an analysis published by The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.
Syracuse ranked seventh in the country behind Kentucky (6th), Wisconsin (5th), Ohio State (4th), Kansas (3rd), Arizona (2nd), and Louisville (1st).

Ryan Brewer, an assistant professor of finance at Indiana University–Purdue University Columbus conducted thevaluations by analyzing each major program’s revenues and expenses and making cash-flow adjustments, risk assessments, and growth projections.
The Syracuse basketball program generated almost $30.5 million in adjusted revenues in 2014, according to the report.
