Syracuse Community Health Center awarded federal funding to continue mental, dental, and primary-care services

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The federal government has awarded the Syracuse Community Health Center (SCHC) more than $3.8 million.

The funding will help SCHC continue providing mental, dental, and primary-care services.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded the funding, per the office of U.S. Representative John Katko (R–Camillus). SCHC is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) that serves more than 34,000 patients each year in Onondaga County. It operates at 819 S. Salina St. in Syracuse.

This money is available through HHS’s health center cluster program, which provides funding for community-based programs that meet the health-care needs of underserved communities.

“With this funding, Syracuse Community Health Center will be able to continue their important work to ensure underserved communities in Central New York have access to quality mental, dental, and primary care services,” Katko said in a release.
