Syracuse Crunch to feature Ephesus light show to raise banner on opening night

SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Crunch will debut an Ephesus light show at the Onondaga County War Memorial during its banner-raising ceremony to open the 2013-2014 season on Saturday night, Oct. 12.

The team will raise banners to commemorate its East Division and Eastern Conference championships before facing off with the Rochester Americans at 7 p.m.

The Crunch will use the Ephesus light show, which features recently installed flashing and moving lights, during the player introductions, the team said in a news release.

Syracuse–based Ephesus Lighting, Inc. installed a new lighting system at the War Memorial prior to the 2012-13 season and is upgrading the lights for the 2013-14 campaign, according to the Crunch.

The firm continues to “forge ahead” with this technology, Joe Casper, president of Ephesus Lighting, said in the Crunch news release.

“We are just beginning to realize what these [light-emitting diode] LED systems can be capable of.  This wireless system that we installed will give the Syracuse Crunch an exciting edge, a greater ability to involve and entertain the fans,” Casper said.

Ephesus Lighting, which is headquartered at the Syracuse Technology Garden, designs LED lighting products to meet the “challenging” environments of the industrial and sporting industries, according to the Crunch release.
