SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Organizers of the 2016 Syracuse Heart Walk announced that this year’s event, held last weekend, raised more than $500,000 to help fight heart disease and stroke.
More than 3,000 fundraising walkers and runners hit the course at the Onondaga Community College campus on Saturday, April 2. Pre-event activities were held inside the SRC Arena, including blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, healthy demonstrations, a Fun Run for kids, and entertainment, according to a news release from the American Heart Association’s Syracuse Region.
Over the past three decades of the Heart Walk in Syracuse, the community has raised more than $5.5 million for “lifesaving research, education, training, and advocacy programs,” the release stated.
