Syracuse Jazz Fest surpasses 2023 fundraising goal

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse Jazz Fest organizers have raised $657,000 for this year’s event, surpassing the goal of $650,000 when the fundraising campaign started back in November.

That’s according to Frank Malfitano, founder and executive producer of Syracuse Jazz Fest.

“The past 4 months, our fundraising efforts have yielded incredible results,” Malfitano said in a release. “and clearly the success we’re seeing with our current campaign is directly attributable to the tremendous audience response the festival received last summer.”

With the fundraising effort, Malfitano wants to offer an “expanded edition” of Syracuse Jazz Fest in 2023.

A press conference for the upcoming Syracuse Jazz Fest is set for Thursday when Malfitano will announce the 2023 festival’s artists, dates, sites and venues, along with stakeholders, supporters, and sponsors.

Syracuse Jazz Fest, now in its 37th year, ranks as the nation’s 12th longest running festival and as the 24th longest running jazz festival in the world, per the release. For the past two decades, the popular music festival has also been ranked as “The Largest Free Jazz Festival In The Northeast,” winning 30 international, national and regional awards since 1982, organizers say.
