It marks the Orange’s 23rd straight appearance in the top 25 of the coaches’ rankings, extending their longest streak in program history, per a Syracuse Athletics news release.
Syracuse (18-8) (9-4 ACC) split a pair of games since last week’s polls, when the team ranked number 21 in the AP and number 20 in the Coaches poll.
The Orange women lost 72-55 at Duke last Friday night, but bounced back on Sunday afternoon with a 95-64 win over North Carolina in the Carrier Dome in front of an announced crowd of 1,595.
The Orange will host Notre Dame, ranked number 7 and 6 in the latest polls, this coming Sunday at 5 p.m., in a game televised nationally on ESPN 2. The Syracuse women’s team is seeking to break its Carrier Dome single-game attendance record against the Fighting Irish. The record was set on Jan. 25, 2012 when 4,357 people attended the Orange’s game against women’s basketball powerhouse Connecticut.
Syracuse recently announced that 13 Central New York companies have purchased group-ticket packages for the Feb. 19 contest against Notre Dame.
