SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse University basketball fans will have plenty of game action to follow on Friday afternoon.
The Syracuse women’s basketball team on Monday night learned it will host first and second round games in the 2016 NCAA women’s tournament.
The Orange women (25-7) are the No. 4 seed in the event’s Sioux Falls region and will play the No. 13 seed Army West Point (29-2) on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
Earlier in the day, the Syracuse men’s hoops team will play Dayton in their opening game at 12:15 p.m. in St. Louis.
For the Syracuse women, the matchup with Army represents their fourth straight appearance in the big dance, but they will be hosting tournament games for the first time in the program’s history.
The other first-round matchup in the Carrier Dome pits the No. 5 seed Florida (22-8) and No. 12 seed Albany (27-4), tipping off at 12 p.m.
The winners will meet in the second round on Sunday with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line.
The Orange women are making their eighth trip to the NCAA Tournament in school history and fifth under head coach Quentin Hillsman.
The Orange are having of one of the best seasons in the history of the program. The team is a victory away from matching the school’s single-season record, the university said.
Along the way, the Syracuse women’s team earned its best all-time rankings in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls.
It also advanced to the championship game of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament, before losing to Notre Dame.
Tickets were scheduled to go on sale to the general public at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Season-ticket holders, Syracuse athletics donors, and season-ticket holders for men’s basketball, football, and men’s lacrosse had the first opportunities to purchase tickets on Monday night, the university announced.

All session tickets (three games) cost $30 for adults and $15 for youth, college students with identification (ID), and senior citizens.
Single-session prices for the first round (two games) are $20 for adults and $10 for youth, college students with ID, and senior citizens.
Group tickets (20 or more) cost $10 for adults and $8 for youth.
Single-session prices for the second round (one game) are $15 for adults and $10 for youth, college students with ID, and senior citizens.
Group tickets (20 or more) run for $10 for adults and $8 for youth.
