SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse police have made an arrest following the Friday morning robbery of the KeyBank (NYSE: KEY) branch at 201 S. Warren St. in downtown Syracuse.

Police have charged John Brown, 54, of Syracuse with third-degree robbery.

The department says officers were called to the branch just after 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning. They were told a male walked into the bank and demanded $1,000.

The bank teller passed the man 10 bills of $100 each, after which the man left the bank on foot and headed toward Water Street.

Officers began searching the area for the suspect and located him in a parking lot on the corner of South State Street and Water Street. Police say the suspect was positively identified and had the $1,000 from the robbery on him.

Brown was taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center
