Syracuse to play Minnesota in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 29

The Orange completed a 7-5 season with a 32-23 win over Boston College, which ended a five-game losing streak against opponents that included Clemson, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Florida State, and Wake Forest.

Syracuse earned bowl eligibility with a six-game winning streak to begin the season, including victories over Louisville, Connecticut, Purdue, Virginia, Wagner, and N.C. State.

“We’re thrilled to be invited to play in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl,” Syracuse head football coach Dino Babers said in the school’s announcement. “I’m excited for our players to travel to New York City and experience all the fantastic events that come with a bowl trip as a reward for what they accomplished this year. I’m also happy that our fans will have another opportunity to see us play in our home state after all their support this season.”

It’s Syracuse’s first bowl appearance since defeating West Virginia in the Camping World Bowl in Orlando to conclude the 2018 season. The invite also represents the Orange’s third trip to the Pinstripe Bowl, having beaten West Virginia, 28-24, in 2012 and Kansas State, 36-34, in the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl in 2010.

The bowl trip marks the Orange’s 27th bowl game, where the program holds a 16-9-1 record, Syracuse University (SU) said in announcing the bowl bid. The .635 winning percentage is the sixth-best winning percentage in the FBS (football bowl subdivision) among teams with 15-or-more bowl games played, SU said.
