SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse University football team will kick off its season with the 69th all-time meeting with Colgate and will later host Clemson to begin conference play at the end of September.
The Orange will also host Army for the first time since 1996 on Sept. 23 and, as reported Monday, will face Pittsburgh at Yankee Stadium on Nov. 11 for the centennial anniversary of college football at the current stadium’s predecessor.
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) on Monday night released the 2023 football schedules for all conference members.
The schedule also includes a Thursday night visit to Virginia Tech on Oct. 26 and a Friday night game with Boston College in the JMA Wireless Dome the following week on Nov. 3.
The ACC, which is beginning the first year of its new 3-5-5 scheduling model this season, enters its first season without divisions since the Orange joined the conference.
In the new structure, each team will play three primary opponents annually (Syracuse opponents are: Florida State, Pittsburgh, and Boston College) and face the other 10 league teams twice during the four-year cycle, once at home and once on the road. The schedule allows for each team to face all 13 conference opponents home and away at least once during the four-year cycle.
Syracuse University Athletics says tickets prices won’t increase in 2023, but some sections will have price decreases as the $99 season-ticket offer will expand to additional sections this season.
