SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse University announced that members of its field hockey team may have been exposed to COVID-19 after interacting with someone not on the team.
As a result, the upcoming Syracuse field hockey games against Duke, scheduled for Friday and Sunday at Coyne Field, have been postponed.
“The student-athletes, determined by contact tracing as potentially exposed, are now quarantining in accordance with CDC and New York State guidelines,” Syracuse University said in a release. It didn’t say how many Orange players may have come in contact with COVID-positive person.
As of Thursday afternoon, all members of the field hockey program have tested negative for COVID-19, the university added.
The announcement comes as Syracuse University has seen a recent rise in coronavirus cases on campus among its overall student population.
The Syracuse field hockey team’s next scheduled game is Oct. 2 at Virginia.
