Syracuse University undergraduate tuition to rise to nearly $42,000 next year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse University’s tuition will increase to almost $42,000 next year.

The university has set full-time undergraduate tuition at $41,794 for the 2015-16 academic year, up 3.5 percent from $40,380 this year.

Syracuse University said in a news release today that the 3.5 percent increase is its lowest percentage tuition rise in 49 years. Last year, Syracuse raised tuition by 3.6 percent, which it said at that time was the smallest percentage increase in 48 years.

Most room and board rates will rise by an average of 2.9 or 3 percent next year, depending on the room and meal plan students choose, the release stated.

The university said it has dedicated a total of $228 million toward financial aid for undergraduate students, the highest total ever.

The Syracuse University budget will also provide for a 7 percent increase in the graduate assistant minimum stipend.
