Syracuse women’s basketball earns highest AP ranking in program history

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse women’s basketball team has climbed to No. 18 in the latest Associated Press (AP) poll, the highest ranking in program history.

Prior to the most current AP ranking release, the Orange women were twice ranked No. 19 nationally in their history, Syracuse Athletics said in a news release issued Tuesday.

The team also ranks 18th in the nation for the second consecutive week in the USA Today Coaches poll, matching its highest ranking in that poll.

It marks the third time in program history that the Orange women have ranked No. 18 in the coaches’ rankings.

Syracuse (22-6, 12-3) will conclude its regular season on Thursday evening at Boston College. With a win against the Eagles, the Orange women would match their program record with 23 regular-season wins.

The Orange women defeated Pittsburgh, 70-56, on Sunday in Pittsburgh, four days after topping nationally ranked Florida State, 83-73, in the Carrier Dome.
